Chapter 09 — Back to the bench

The quiet revival. Drawings for Aly. Waiting for the processor and for weather.

A short entry. The 8 × 4" unit comes back from the dead — ready to measure the most basic things first, and many more after.

The revival of the unit.

Finally able to measure — starting from the most basic things, like the difference between vertical adjacent polar patterns, and much more.

Just the revival of my unit, where finally I'll be able to measure several important things — starting from the most basic of them, like the difference between vertical adjacent polar patterns. And much more. It will be a fun time. In about a month, when I receive our own processing in Chile, I'll prepare some drawings for Aly to create a replica, so you can test first results in 2D. Way cool.

These diaries show most of all the hard work to fix my 8 × 4" unit.

Repair, step 1

Inside the unit — the first step of the repair.

Second step. Soldering, alignment, careful hands.

Third step. Cleaner, coherent again.

Ready to go
Fig. 04

Ready to go. Just waiting for my friend who owns the Marani 8-FIR unit — and for some good weather.

Meanwhile, I advance on our brand-new 2D tool.
— the ritual of waiting

Meanwhile I'm advancing on our brand-new 2D tool, to be able to create a 2D polar pattern immediately after getting my 37 measurements per pattern (0°, 5°, 10°, …, 180°). Well — to see beam steering in action we will also measure 72 impulses, up to 360°.

See you very soon with more.
— Sebastián.
